The Arany János Cultural Center in Nagykörős celebrates the Hungarian Day of Culture by hosting a series of commemorative events. These include a showing of Ferenc Pap’s Workers’ Militia: History of the Party Militia, a documentary about the 1957 origins of the personal armed force of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, the Workers’ Militia. The film also examines the specific tasks and missions of the militia. Experts and eyewitnesses discuss how the Workers’ Militia evolved over its 32-year existence and what led to its eventual demise. A roundtable discussion follows the screening. Among the invited guests are co-director of the documentary Zsolt Pap and our very own Dávid Kiss.
