Film premiere and conference in Vienna

20. - 21. February 2017

With the support of the Austro-Hungarian Action Foundation, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – Research Center for the Humanities – Institute of History, the Collegium Hungaricum (Hungarian Institute of Vienna) and the VERITAS Research Institute for History are jointly organizing an academic conference titled Hungarian Refugees in Austria on behalf of Austrian and Hungarian historians.

Presenters include: Edda Engelke (University of Graz and Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Research on War Consequences), Gusztáv D. Kecskés (Hungarian Academy of Sciences – Institute of History, Research Fellow), Lajos Gecsényi (National Archives of Hungary, Director Emeritus), Maximilian Graf (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Research Fellow) and Judit Antónia Farkas, János Rácz and Dávid Kiss from the VERITAS Research Institute for History. The conference will be held in German and English.

Date: 10 AM on (Tuesday) February 21st, 2017

On the evening before the conference the Hungarian Institute of Vienna will host the premiere of the documentary film In Two Homelands... ‘56er Hungarian Refugees in Austria. Following the screening, a panel discussion with participants Dr. Jenő Csernay, Dr. András Smuk and Dr. László Varjú will be held. Tünde Zsuffa will moderate the discussion.
