Sándor Szakály will be introducing Mónika Makra and Adrienn Gárdonyi’s new book Remember Us! ...Those Who Went to the Soviet Union for a “Little Work”.
The authors have written the following: “The book takes a look at the tragedy of malenykaja rabota, which befell the townships of Taksony and Dunavarsány. On the basis of fifty-four interviews we have reconstructed the circumstances of the deportations, the excruciating journey to the camps and the horrors of the years spent there. This book is unique in its own right; it is both a specialized textbook and a compilation of sources. Myriad photographs add color to its more than 400 pages. We believe the researchers who specialize in the subject will consider it as a breath of fresh air. And the family members of the deported will have a chance to learn about their descendants, those who were forced to keep quiet about those decades long ago.”
