For the twentieth time the Rákóczi Alliance will organize a camp for Carpathian-based history teachers. Several of our VERITAS colleagues will be participating. On Monday afternoon, Sándor Szakály will talk about Hungary during the Interwar period. On Tuesday Máté Gali will discuss the events and history of the lead-up to the Compromise of 1867 (for example, the 1859 Austro-French Piedmontese War and the 1866 Austro-Prussian War), the Alexander von Bach Era, the Schmerling Proviso and Ferenc Deák’s role between 1861 and 1867. He will also tangentially note the endeavors of the 1848–49 Hungarian émigrés (specifically Lajos Kossuth). Also on Tuesday, Dávid Ligeti will make a presentation about the Romanian invasion of Transylvania in 1916. Finally Kálmán Árpád Kovács’s presentation is titled Consequential Historiographical Debates Surrounding the Reformation.
