October 6th is an official Day of Mourning in Hungary. On that day in 1849, thirteen senior military officers were executed in Arad for their role in the Revolution of 1848. Also on that day Hungarian Prime Minister Count Lajos Batthyány was executed in Pest. To honor the memory of these heroes, the township of Tápiószecső is organizing a commemorative event which will be followed by a votive candle lighting. László Anka, Deputy Mayor of Tápiószecső and Research Fellow at the VERITAS Research Institute for History, is scheduled to speak.
