The local government of Mosonmagyaróvár and the ’56 Association of Mosonmagyaróvár are hosting a multiday commemoration to honor the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the men and women who gave their lives fighting for freedom. Events will include a requiem in memory of the victims who were fired upon and killed by the Hungarian secret police in Mosonmagyaróvár, a wreath laying at the 1956 Hungarian Revolution memorial plaque and speeches from local government representatives, religious leaders and other noteworthy individuals, including Mosonmagyaróvár mayor István Árvay, Protestant pastor Julianna Csáfody, president of the ’56 Association of Mosonmagyaróvár Ágnes Pandúr-Gábor, teacher Zoltán Szábó, professor and former Minister of Agriculture Frigyes Nagy, representative and member of the ’56 Association of Mosonmagyaróvár István Pausits and Sándor Szakály.
