Every year the Memorial Day for the Victims of Communism is held on February 25th. On this day in 1947, Béla Kovács (1908–1959), Secretary General of the Independent Smallholders Party, was arrested and charged with plotting against the communist authorities. Found guilty, he was deported to a labor camp in the Soviet Union.
The Szigetszentmiklós Municipal Library and Community Center organizes a commemorative event on the occasion of the Memorial Day for the Victims of Communism. Our colleague Dávid Ligeti has been invited to speak. His lecture is entitled 1919: The story of the Republic of Councils in Hungary.
