By autumn 1918, nearly half of Hungary’s cultural institutions had been lost as a result of the border revision associated with the Treaty of Trianon. Losing those significant regional centers was a great misfortune for the country, but in terms of cultural indicators, the situation in post-Trianon Hungary was better than it had been prior to 1918.
