The VERITAS Research Institute for History and Archives and the Dunatáj Foundation jointly organize an online conference entitled Approaches: Possibilities of Historical Documentaries. Péter Szalay’s film No Command! – The End Days of the Iron Curtain, 1989 is put under the microscope. Presenters include: Director of the VERITAS Research Institute for History and Archives Sándor Szakály (History + Film = Historical Film?), Director of the German-Hungarian Institute for European Cooperation Bence Bauer (The Role of 1989 in German Cultural Memory), film historian and writer László Kelecsényi (The Command of the Conscience), historian Krisztina Slachta (Victims of the Iron Curtain: Research Questions and Difficulties), Secretary of the Pan-European Picnic ‘89 Foundation László Nagy (The Picnic and the Opening of the Border through the Eyes of a Picnic Organizer) and film director Péter Szalay himself (From the Perspective of the Recent Past).
The event culminates with a Q&A session. Film director András Péterffy is moderator and host.
