The Board of Advisors for the VERITAS Research Institute for History held its most recent meeting at the Ludovika Square campus of the National University of Public Service on June 23rd, 2015.
As the host Dr. András Patyi, the university’s rector, welcomed the board members. Then Chairman of the Board and ex-Prime Minister Dr. Péter Boross gave his opening remarks. After that Dr. Patyi made a presentation about the National University of Public Service, talking about the wide-ranging academic and research endeavors which were taking place on the five-campus-large university.
Following the rector’s remarks, Dr. Sándor Szakály, the Director of the VERITAS Research Institute for History, gave a summary of the Institute’s most recent work. In his opinion, our institute was beginning to play a greater role in the domestic academic world, in education, whose clearest indicator was that the earlier agitation and negative opinions – coming mainly from the historian profession and the media – had subsided. More and more the seminars, conferences and other work-related events had come to the fore. Of these the most prominent event was the memorial conference on the occasion of the 25th anniversary (1990) of the formation of the freely elected Hungarian National Assembly, which had received favorable feedback.
