On Thursday, September 24th, 2015, the National Heritage Institute will organize a conference titled A National Success: Sport in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ ceremonial hall located in the Buda Castle.
As patron, Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s Prime Minister, will open the conference, followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Katalin Fogarasi-Radnai, the President of the National Heritage Institute. Thereupon, the audience will listen to talks by distinguished sportsmen, sports commissioners, former Olympians and researchers of sports history. Sándor Szakály, the Director of the VERITAS Research Institute for History, will give his presentation titled The Relationship between Competitive Sports and the Hungarian Defense Forces in 20th Century Hungary. Closing remarks will be made by Péter Boross, onetime Prime Minister and President of both the National Memorial and Reverence Committee and the Board of Advisors for the VERITAS Research Institute for History.
