On Thursday, November 12th, 2015, at 2:30 PM, the Hungarian Sports Sciences Association and its Sports History Committee, together with the Hungarian Olympic and Sports Museum, are hosting a memorial conference in honor of Alfréd Hajós, the first Hungarian ever to win a gold medal at the Olympic games, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his death, at the House of Hungarian Sports. Sándor Szakály, the Director of the VERITAS Research Institute for History, has been invited and will give a lecture titled Hajós a katona (Hajós the Soldier).
The memorial conference will close with an exhibition organized by the Olympic and Sports Museum titled Hajós Alfréd hagyatéka (The Legacy of Alfréd Hajós). The collection includes memorabilia from his gold medal at Athens to the hat he wore as a member of the Hungarian National Soccer Team.
