For the nineteenth time the Rákóczi Alliance will organize a camp for Carpathian Basin-based history teachers from July 18th and 23rd; approximately one hundred teachers are expected to attend. The purpose of the camp is to provide the participating teachers an opportunity to further their professional education and to network with likeminded individuals. Every year the camp focuses on a specific discussion topic, with noteworthy university and academic experts invited to lecture about it. This year’s topic is the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and Fight for Freedom.
Among those invited to speak are the following: János Martonyi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ferenc Kalmár, Ministerial Commissioner responsible for Neighborhood Policy; Sándor M. Kiss, Konrád Salamon, Lajos Izsák and Lajos Gecsényi, professors; Mária Wittner, 1956 Hungarian Revolution heroine; Stefanno Bottoni, historian; Mihály Takaró, literary historian; Kálmán Mészáros and Gábor Péterfi, historians; Zsuzsanna Varga, associate professor; Joachim Vasas, college professor; and Botond Feledy, foreign affairs expert.
